I’m humbled to be asked to blog on behalf of the Sodexo Credit function and as this is my inaugural attempt I hope you will forgive any transgression of blogging rules that I am not yet currently aware of…..!
The journey to work on the first day of my internship with Sodexo was, for me, an extremely nervous one. Unable to concentrate on anything else, I just counted the stops all the way along the central line. As I entered the London head office I was unnerved and a little bit intimidated by this new environment. I noticed how busy everyone was but even though everyone was so busy and focused on their work, they all made time to smile, introduce themselves and make sure I had everything I needed. This reassurance was exactly what I needed. Now that I reflect back on that day I realise how much easier my first day was made by the friendliness and welcoming nature of the team.
Now in my 8th year of employment, I was thrilled at the opportunity to develop my career in moving to Cyprus as the HRBP for Sodexo Defence Cyprus. This opportunity has enabled me to develop my career and continue with a company I LOVE working for.

I met some very inspirational people when I visited York barracks recently and I don’t say that lightly! The service and dedication they show to their roles, Sodexo and the military is amazing and heartfelt. Lynda Rippin, Services Manager, showed me around and looked after me all day. One of the first people Lynda introduced me to was Al Betteridge (Catering Manager). Al has worked for Sodexo for 3 years.
Being an HR Business partner in Sodexo is both rewarding and challenging; here Victoria Smith gives us some valuable insight into her daily life as an HR Business Partner within Sodexo Defence.
