5 minutes with….. Rebecca Caveney – Senior CDP at Everton FC

In this blog series, we grab 5 minutes with some of our Chefs in Sports & Leisure to learn more about their role in Sodexo and why they love being a Sodexo Chef

Here we meet Rebecca Caveney – Aged 26 years, who joined Sodexo through work experience at the age of 15 years old….

What attracted you into the industry and when did you know you wanted to become a Chef?

“My first job was in the Echo Arena in Liverpool. I started here when I was still attending full time education. I got introduced to a chef who was working on events, concerts. Etc. I was really eager to learn more about the catering industry, so after leaving school I went straight into college to learn Catering & Hospitality NVQ1, 2 &3”.

 Describe your role with Sodexo?

“I am currently Senior Chef De Partie here at Everton Football Club”

 What are the biggest challenges in your role?

“As well as having a full time contract, I also have a young child at home who depends on me. Sodexo are very flexible with my situation”.

 What has been the highlight of your time with Sodexo?

“After working within Sodexo for a numerous of years, I finally received my contract in 2016. But I would have to say winning gold in chef team of the year. This I would say was an amazing highlight for me”.

What do you enjoy most about working in Sodexo Sports and Leisure?

“I like the opportunities Sodexo give to you to help you improve your skills and learning. For example they encourage you to do competitions and work on different events i.e. Royal Ascot & the Open Golf”.

 What would you say to someone considering a career at Sodexo?

“I would tell them to go for it. Sodexo is such a great company to work for. The support from the whole team is great. Encouragement to better yourself in whatever department you are in is fantastic and opportunities in Sodexo are endless”.

 What are your career goals for the future?

“So my current role is Senior chef De Partie. In the future I want to see myself as Sous Chef here at Everton Football Club. The support I am receiving to peruse this in my career is amazing”
